The origin story
As a child I was known as a storyteller, artist + crafteneur, but I was also fiercely independent and business minded. At age 7 I had my own lemonade stand and quarterly jumble sales outside the front of our house, making enough money in one day to buy the toy I refused to let my parents buy for me (+ put the rest into my savings account!).
Yup, I’ve got a little bit of that Type A personality kind of vibe. I guess you could say if my left + right brain were hands, I’d be ambidextrous!
Having a creative and strategic mindset has really helped to carve out the career that I wanted for myself. I have a Masters degree in Marketing Communications and have worked in ad agencies for over a decade, juggling multiple accounts at a time.
I’ve worked across big brands all across the globe, from South Africa, to London and Sydney. My clients over the years have included Levis, Adidas, American Express, Vodafone, Woolworths at Work, Jack Daniels, Westpac, NAB, The Body Shop + Penguin Books to name a few.
But then something started niggling at me. What about the solopreneurs, the entrepreneurs, the micro businesses, the SMBs? And suddenly my focus pivoted. I looked at what the marketing needs for a small business were and today I help my clients through 4 key services:
